aerielpembroke: aeriel from gathering of gargoyles (aeriel and stick)
Hello! My AO3 name is Aeriel and thank you for even considering writing for me! Generally speaking I'm open to stories of all ratings, gen, f/f, m/m or f/m. I have mostly been using my DW journal for letter writing for various exchanges which may or may not be of use to you, and I haven't been terribly active at that.

Horror-specific likes: I'm not at all opposed to violence in horror, but violence in and of itself isn't usually what I like my horror to focus on. I generally find the tension of possible violence much more frightening than an orgy of bloody deeds, though a well-placed act of surprising violence can also be super effective. (Please no graphic eye trauma, fingernail trauma, amputation or branding though, unless you're referencing Imriel's canonical branding) Creeping horror and unease, questions about what's real and what's just in your head and relationships that seem good at first but slowly deteriorate or are revealed to have been build on a foundation of lies, especially if it's still hard or impossible to sever that tie in the end. Also, I mean, I'm always up for making one or more characters vampires... (Melisande would be an excellent vampire)

Misc inspirations: My favorite horror movies include The Innocents (1961), The Hunger (1983), Cat People (1942) and I Walked With A Zombie (1943) and I love Edward Gorey's work. I also have fond memories of the Roger Corman film versions of Masque of the Red Death and Fall of the House of Usher, and I pretty much always watch The Mummy (1932) start to finish if it's available (I also enjoy the 90s remakes, but the original leans in harder to themes of being haunted by the past and reincarnation romance as horror, which is also a thing I really liked in Coppola's 1992 Dracula adaptation)

DNWs: body horror, eye trauma, fingernail trauma, amputation, branding (the kind involving hot irons), public humiliation, addiction in general but especially involving alcohol/drugs (I don't mind characters having a casual drink once or twice), cancer and other long-term serious illness, graphic non-con/rape (references to characters having been assaulted/raped in the past are acceptable, particularly if the assault is a canon fact, I'm also ok with implied/fade to black sexual assault), characters getting dumped 'for their own good', zombies, cruelty to animals, characters aggressively pursuing someone romantically who genuinely has no interest in them, pandemics and plagues.

Alcuin nó Delaunay & Phèdre nó Delaunay
When requesting Alcuin, I usually ask for an AU where he survives, but I'm willing to make an exception for this exchange: what if Alcuin lingers after death as a ghost, haunting Phèdre either through actual visitations or through ambiguous dreams and moments? What if Phèdre actually isn't sure if she's being haunted by Alcuin or something just using his face and/or voice? What if Alcuin returns, but he comes back subtly wrong? Or what if Phèdre herself is having a weird unsettling near-death experience and Alcuin's spirit shows up to help guide her back to the earthly Terre d'Ange?

Or what if Alcuin survived the attack on Delaunay's townhouse, but not without some terrible cost, perhaps as a result of one of the gods deciding to use him for their own purposes? (Camael or Kushiel changing his nature to give Alcuin a taste for violence/punishment?) There's always been a subtle element of horror to Kushiel's influence on Phèdre's life, so I'd also just love to see an exploration of that from her (with or without her as unreliable narrator) or the outside POV of Alcuin observing the burdens of being Kushiel's Chosen, or with Alcuin being burdened in his own way giving Phèdre an additional angle to consider the existential terror of being a god's tool.

Imriel de la Courcel & Melisande Shahrizai
My initial thought was an AU where Melisande "wins" in some way, and either gets to raise Imriel from infancy or manages her scheme of eventually plucking him out of obscurity and using him to win the throne. In any case, a scenario where Imriel grows up influenced by and adoring his mother, either not aware of or not overly troubled by all the lives sacrificed at the altar of Melisande's ambition. Maybe he starts to have nightmares about people he's never met who once lived in the palace (Ysandre, Rolande, Isabel, or perhaps even Delaunay?). Maybe he starts having visions of bloody walls and corpses. Maybe Kushiel wants him to rise up against his mother. Maybe he takes a wrong turn one evening and finds Phèdre in a padded dungeon cell, surrounded by luxurious things but looking utterly sad and defeated. Maybe he even has a sister called Alais or Sidonie, who doesn't really resemble him but who Melisande swears is his blood relation. (I totally encourage a weird gothic scenario where Imriel and Sidonie still are attracted to each other but Imriel thinks they're siblings instead of cousins and Sidonie knows they're not but has her own reasons for not telling him... yet)

That said, I'm also very much open to post-canon horror or more milder canon divergences for this request! I realize I mostly wrote Imriel-centric prompts but I'm absolutely open to Melisande POV as well, to be clear!

As far as shipping, I've given mainly gen prompts and don't want romance between either of my nominated relationships, but feel free to include Melisande/Phèdre, Phèdre/Joscelin, Phèdre/Nicola and/or Imriel/Sidonie as well as mentions of past Alcuin/Delaunay and/or any other canon relationships or assignations. I'm also open to any non-canon ship for Alcuin that I've requested or written in the past. However, I do want Alcuin & Phèdre or Imriel & Melisande to be the primary focus of the story.

Kurama | Minamino Shuichi (YuYu Hakusho) & Medicine Seller (Mononoke)
So my first thought was the Medicine Seller crossing paths with Kurama in the bad old days when he was still thieving and feared far and wide, but I'd also be very interested to see the Medicine Seller in the 1990s, investigating a disturbance at the same time as Kurama (one that may or may not involve Kurama himself directly). What might Kurama make of the Medicine Seller? Would he already be known to Kurama as a myth/legend/folk rumor even if he'd never actually met him? I don't think Kurama's nature would trouble the Medicine Seller, but it might be inconvenient if it came up say, with him and Kurama trapped in a situation involving Kurama's human classmates/coworkers/casual acquaintances that he doesn’t particularly want knowing that he’s actually a fox (and/or a reformed master criminal). Would Kurama be motivated to assist the Medicine Seller in pursuit of truth and reason, or potentially hinder him out of suspicion or self-interest?”

Medicine Seller (Mononoke)
Does the Medicine Seller ever encounter anyone else like him, or pretending to be like him with a more wicked agenda? Or perhaps you could show him in a different era from the ones we see him in canonically, since we know that time marches on but he doesn't seem to change… it’d be interesting to see him in an earlier time (in the chaos of the Sengoku period, coming through after a recent battle? Or in the Heian era, perhaps lurking around the fringes of banished nobles or crossing paths with historical figures like Abe no Seimei?) or to see him closer to the present, reappearing amidst the post-WWII devastation in a bombed-out city (though please, not Hiroshima or Nagasaki) or later still, in the shadows of the economic boom and slump of early Heisei era in the 90s.

For art, I do love beautiful colors and design textures like in the anime, but I also really love dramatically well-placed shadows and shading, in greyscale as well as in color. If you’re familiar at all with Julia Lepetit’s work, I adore what she does with lighting and shadows, and I think some ominous, spooky light/shadow stuff would work really nicely for the Medicine Seller’s character and/or whatever mononoke he might be facing if you’re up for that. I also am a big fan of artistic bloodstains/dripping blood motifs, so feel free to run with that (I’d just ask for no exposed intestines or brains or other visible organs, but bone and bones are fine).

I find all sorts of youkai and other Japanese supernatural phenomena intriguing and I'm always up for learning about new ones as well as reading about old favorites but if you're at all wondering where to start I'd love a story featuring kitsune or inugami (you may allude to animal harm with this one, though I'd prefer no graphic descriptions) or tatarimokke or ikiryō or ungaikyō.

Special Mononoke DNW: anything to do with nuclear war/fallout or specific actual historical wartime atrocities, no pro-Imperial Japan rhetoric or unironic nationalism from sympathetic characters, including (in art) imagery of the imperial flag or strong military themes. Also no images of Hiroshima or Nagasaki or any associated landmarks. I would also ask that you avoid depicting in art any recent natural disasters, such as 3/11.

I'm fine with ambiguous or unhappy endings for these requests providing it's not a last minute bait-and-switch sort of thing where everything is leading towards a hopeful ending and then bam, everyone's dead/evil, surprise! Uplifting/hopeful endings are also fine.

Welcome, Yuletide writer and anyone else wandering by! My AO3 name is Aeriel, and I love all these canons, so no matter which we have in common, I'm excited. Generally speaking I'm open to stories of all ratings, gen, f/f, m/m or f/m. I have mostly been using my DW journal for letter writing for various exchanges which may or may not be of use to you, depending on the fandom, and I haven't been terribly active at that.

Some general DNWs that may or may not be likely to come up in the contexts of these fandoms: body horror, public humiliation, addiction in general but especially involving alcohol/drugs (I don't mind characters having a casual drink once or twice), cancer and other long-term serious illness, graphic non-con/rape, characters getting dumped 'for their own good', zombies, cruelty to animals, characters aggressively pursuing someone romantically who genuinely has no interest in them.

Blossom Culp Series- Richard Peck
Blossom Culp, Alexander Armsworth

I adore this series and rediscover it every few years or so. I think my favorite is still Blossom Culp and the Sleep of Death, which was the first one I picked up as a kid, though I also have a soft spot for The Ghost Belonged To Me.

As great as it is when Blossom has to drag Alexander kicking and screaming into an adventure, it'd be nice to see Alexander stumble into a ghost or haunting or other supernatural problem himself again and have to grudgingly ask for Blossom's help or work it out on his own. Or perhaps Blossom leaves town, makes good, and when she runs into Alexander again he's shocked to realize he's happy to see her again (and might even be willing to attempt some romance? Optional but appreciated!) Or Blossom goes abroad someplace with a slightly different local perspective on spirits and becomes unexpectedly sought after? I'd love to see an adult Blossom who's found her calling, and an Alexander who's grown something of a backbone and figured himself out a bit more, but I'd be just as happy to see more of them as awkward teenagers! I will say that I'd prefer a story that didn't focus too heavily on the upcoming World Wars-- you don't have to ignore them if you pick a time frame where they'd logically be part of life but I'd rather not receive a war or soldier story, if that makes sense.

Kushiel's Legacy- Jacqueline Carey
Alcuin nó Delaunay, Sidonie de la Courcel

I'll start by saying I picked two of my favorites whose paths never cross in canon, and though I'd especially love to see how they might play off each other, it's all right by me if you want to focus more heavily on one than the other.

Alcuin is a favorite of mine for 'what if' AU scenarios, both because I find him such an interesting, sympathetic character and because he was killed off so early in canon that there's much he didn't get to do. So however you choose to keep him alive, I'd like to see him survive and thrive in ways beyond being Delaunay's lover.

I also love Sidonie in all her prickly glory, and though she gets a much better deal altogether than Alcuin, I have always wanted to read something about her dealing with the aftermath of Carthage. Aside from that, I know Ysandre once remarks that she would have liked to have met Alcuin. Perhaps if Alcuin lived, and he and Ysandre got along, Alcuin might have become a tutor to Sidonie? Or perhaps Alcuin might have disappeared from public life for some time, only to return to court when Sidonie is old enough to be a player in her own intrigues? Or if you have some other idea for an Alcuin & Sidonie or Sidonie & Alcuin story or adventure, absolutely go ahead and write it!

That said, I'll add that I'd rather not see Alcuin/Sidonie as a romantic or sexual relationship, though if you want to include romantic/sexual relationships I'm open to Alcuin/Barquiel, Alcuin/Joscelin (preferably in a world where Phèdre/Joscelin didn't happen), Alcuin/Raphael Murain no Gentian, Sidonie/Imriel, Sidonie/Amarante, Sidonie/Maslin and past/referenced Alcuin/Anafiel Delaunay + Alcuin's canonical patrons.

Medicine Seller

I really enjoyed watching this anime for the first time this year, and I just loved the style and the almost anthology-like format. So I'd be delighted to get another spooky/sad/dramatic tale, whether it be totally standalone or feature the return of Kayo or another supporting character from one of the episodes but I'd also be delighted to see something like the Medicine Seller encountering less harmful supernatural phenomena or in a different era from the ones we see him in canonically, since we know that time marches on but he doesn't seem to change. Kushiel's Legacy- Jacqueline Carey

Alcuin no Delaunay & Imriel de la Courcel
In a universe where Alcuin survived the attack on Delaunay's home, it seems inevitable that he would have met Imriel. Even if he took Hyacinthe's place with the Master of the Straits, he still would've encountered Imriel upon Phedre freeing him. I think it would've been really interesting having such a different male role model in Imriel's life besides Joscelin. Alcuin as teacher, or Alcuin as sort of uncle/godfather figure, or both? I initially imagined this request with the Imriel of Scion or earlier, but it occurs to me now that Alcuin would be a really interesting confidant for Imriel when he reached the point of struggling with attraction/feelings for Sidonie, given all we know Alcuin was willing to do for love. What advice might Alcuin have for Imriel? Or, what might helping to raise Imriel do to heal Alcuin's heart?

Sidonie de la Courcel
I feel like one of the few people who fell super hard for Sidonie super quickly. She's so prickly and self-contained and fierce! I would especially love fic with her dealing with what happened with Astegal, because I felt kind of cheated out of that part of her arc. But I am also totally here for fic with her growing up and bonding with Alais and/or Ysandre, or sometime in the future ruling Terre d'Ange. Or interacting with Phedre (and/or Joscelin)! Or interacting with Barquiel! Or interacting with Melisande! (Or as a special AU treat, Alcuin!) Shipwise I like Sidonie's canon love interests very much (and I'll include Maslin in that category) and would also be interested in her interacting with any Night Court adepts providing it didn't break up her marriage or anything, but by no means feel compelled to write something shippy if you don't want to.
aerielpembroke: (aeriel)
Hello, and thank you for even considering writing for me! My AO3 name is Aeriel and I am ridiculously delighted by the prospect of getting something for one of these ships or character relationships.

As a general rule, I am okay with everything from G rated hand holding to explicit stuff, though I would rather no super underage sex times (tentatively ruling for this letter nothing with either character below 15, though naturally if there's a canon age gap I don't mind seeing it in fic), and no non-con. If you are leaning towards writing porn, I would like at least a little bit of story with it. If you are leaning towards not writing porn, no problem!

Relationship tropes that are Do Not Wants: ultimatums, cold/harsh rejection of love confessions, jealousy that leads to angst, long term pining, characters forcing their partners out of the closet and/or not respecting their boundaries, the saint and the project (one character is fucked up and destructive and their partner is the selfless person that puts up with all their shit with no complaints or signs of issues of their own), characters dumping other characters 'for their own good' and anyone getting a non-canon terminal disease.

More general Do Not Wants: body horror (unless it's canon, and then I'd rather it not be dwelled on in much detail), public humiliation, graphic non-con/rape, zombies, cruelty to animals and mundane AUs (AUs where characters with powers have none, non-human characters become regular humans). I also don't generally care for AUs that take away characters' canonical trauma and suffering.

That said, I doubt most of those are likely to come up in the contexts of the ships I asked for, so here's what I asked for.

Chronicles of Amber- Roger Zelazny

I would rather not receive a story focusing heavily on Deirdre's canonical death-- stories set before then or handwaving it would be my preference at this time.

Corwin/Deirdre
When did they cross the threshold from brother and sister to romance, if you will? Was there a period when they were happy, before Oberon found out and made his disapproval clear? Were there reactions from their other siblings (particularly Eric, Flora and/or Julian) of any sort or were they all busy with their own affairs/not particularly surprised or inclined to make judgements either way? There's the sense in Sign of the Unicorn that although Corwin adores Deirdre, he doesn't entirely trust her, and I'd love to see something playing on that as well, since they are Amberites after all. I'm particularly interested in Deirdre's side of things since for obvious reasons we largely got her through Corwin's eyes.

Deirdre & Eric
We first encounter Deirdre in canon escaping from Eric-- why did Eric capture her? Did he hold her long? Has Eric tried to capture Deirdre before, and if so why? We know that Deirdre sides with Corwin, generally, but has there ever been a situation where she and Eric were on the same side? What does Eric think of Deirdre? Did their relationship worsen significantly after Corwin went missing or was there always tension?

Deirdre & Flora
So we know that Flora has never gotten along with Deirdre. How did that start? Was there an inciting incident or was it just the sort of thing where from the moment they were introduced they were so different there was immediate tension? Were there exceptions, situations or issues on which Flora and Deirdre were forced to cooperate? Does Deirdre know Flora is working for Eric, and how does she feel about that if so?

Kushiel's Legacy- Jacqueline Carey

Alcuin no Delaunay/Barquiel L'Envers
This mostly interests me as a ship in an AU where Alcuin didn't die as I think there's more than one reason Barquiel never bid on Alcuin or Phedre as Naamah's Servants (but if you have an idea involving Alcuin/Barquiel having been an assignation, don't feel too constrained by this). It interests me that Barquiel ends up being one of the few people outside the Delaunay household who have some idea what they're about, due to Alcuin insisting on being the one to tell Barquiel who poisoned Isabel. I think an odd mutual respect could form years down the line, had Alcuin been given years more to live. Or alternatively, Barquiel could be very suspicious, just as he is with Phedre, and privately struggling with finding him attractive.

Alcuin no Delaunay/Joscelin Verreuil
Full disclosure: I have written this ship before, but please don't think that means I have any sort of rigid ideas about it! I like the idea of it because I feel like Alcuin and Joscelin would bring out different aspects of each other than we see in their canon romances. There's the fun bit of interaction already present in Dart with Joscelin teaching Alcuin to spar with him, and the contrast of Joscelin's rigidness to Alcuin's adaptability, and arguably Alcuin's attitudes towards sex are more like Joscelin's than Phedre's in terms of monogamy and romantic attachment. I would prefer this ship in an AU where Alcuin didn't die.

Imriel de la Courcel/Sidonie de la Courcel
I just love these two together, from their prickly awkward beginnings to their super passionate peaks. I'd be happy to see a slice of their married life, or a missing scene with Sidonie recovering from all that happened in Carthage with Imriel's help, or even a bit of canon divergence... what if Imriel hadn't agreed to marry Dorelei? What if Melisande had won and Imriel found himself plucked out of obscurity to fuel her purposes and then found a disguised or hidden Sidonie? What if Melisande had raised Imriel and he'd gone to Terre d'Ange for the first time planning to seduce Sidonie?

Melisande Shahrizai/Sidonie de la Courcel
And now for my darkfic request! Because I find it hard to imagine a scenario where this ship would happen that wouldn't be twisted in some way, but the idea of it is fascinating all the same. Even in an AU where Melisande gets to Sidonie before/instead of Imriel, Sidonie is still the daughter and heir of the Queen Melisande has been actively working to dethrone and/or kill. Melisande being Melisande, I imagine she would find it delightful to conquer Ysandre's daughter. Sidonie is of course not an anguisette, but Melisande has enough of the qualities she seems attracted to that if she didn't know initially who Melisande was I think she might just be tempted by her. I should re-iterate I'd rather not see graphic on-screen non-con but I'm pretty much expecting dubcon and referenced/implied non-con is fine for this specific request.

幽☆遊☆白書 | YuYu Hakusho: Ghost Files

Hiei & Yukina
I find Hiei and Yukina's relationship really affecting, and I'd love to see more of it. Maybe an early moment of Hiei watching younger Yukina, or Yukina's perspective on Hiei? (I do tend to think she absolutely knows he's her brother by the end of the series without him needing to tell her) Does Hiei ever go to the human world to visit Yukina, post-canon, or does she come back to the Makai to visit him? Maybe a time where Yukina surprised Hiei with her resilience, or when Yukina saw Hiei in a vulnerable moment?

Kurama | Minamino Shuuichi & Mukuro
Kurama and Mukuro don't really interact in canon iirc, but in the manga Kurama helps Hiei with his "present" of her father eternally being tortured, so I tend to think if they did interact it would be a bit more nuanced than them jealously competing for Hiei's affections, haha. I'd love to see them having to work together on something-- maybe Hiei's in trouble, or maybe one of them needs assistance only the other can give. Maybe they have a common enemy and agree to train together, or Mukuro has to go to the human realm for some reason and Hiei suggests Kurama help her blend in.

Kurama | Minamino Shuuichi/Urameshi Yuusuke (YuYu Hakusho)
I find this a really intriguing pairing, considering what Kurama and Yusuke have in common (living with single mothers, a tendency towards self-sacrifice, technically being both human and youkai) but also what is very, very different about them (Kurama really being so much older than Yusuke and way more of a youkai underneath it all, Kurama being more intellectual while Yusuke is more physical) and that Yusuke offered his life up for Kurama's almost immediately after meeting him, which I tend to think Kurama is more deeply grateful to Yusuke for than Yusuke realizes. Would they come together (romantically or sexually, fling or something more serious) again because of an impulse of Yusuke’s? Would Kurama carefully lay a trap to seduce him? Or maybe you could go for a sort of thing where sex is part of a ritual to make them both stronger?

I’d prefer if Yusuke/Keiko were broken up amicably or not in a romantic relationship if you’re writing Yusuke with Kurama. Also, if you’re writing smut I prefer Kurama to top and/or dom.

Urameshi Yuusuke/Yukimura Keiko
I really love how these two play off each other, and the little ways we see their relationship develop in the background, but that also leaves room for a lot of missing scenes! Did Yusuke and Keiko have any time to process the Dark Tournament together before the Sensui arc got into full swing? Post-Sensui but pre-Three Kings, did they go on a date or two, whether Yusuke fully realized that's what it was? I'd also be happy to see a snapshot of them post-canon, settling into an overall more peaceful life!

Banana Fish (Anime & Manga)
Ash Lynx/Okumura Eiji
This canon has really stuck with me, I think mainly because of the characters and the emotional depth between Ash and Eiji. Eiji in particular I feel doesn't get enough credit for how thoughtful, brave and true he is, though of course I love Ash with all his jagged edges and brilliance. Considering all the shit that Ash goes through, a slice of happiness with Eiji would be lovely, however bittersweet you want to make it. A stolen moment of peace, or a fraught moment of tension? Or relieved tension? Or what if canon diverged slightly and Ash got to visit Japan?

Gentleman Jack (TV)
Anne Lister & Marian Lister
I loved the moment late in the season where Marian observes Anne isn't quite her usual self, and shows genuine concern for her. For all they don't often agree and Marian often resents Anne, they clearly still love each other as sisters and it's nice to see that kind of relationship. I'd be delighted to see another such moment where Marian temporarily softens on Anne, or one where Marian unexpectedly meets with Anne's approval. Or... make them travel together for Reasons, even if it's only as far as York.

Anne Lister/Ann Walker
I am about 99% percent satisfied with what we already have in canon, to be honest, but why not have more of a good thing? I'd be very interested to see Ann Walker's perspective on the beginning of their relationship, or a moment of tenderness with Lister realizing how unexpectedly much she's come to care for Ann. Or, you could take it in a totally wild direction and throw them in like a high fantasy AU (I'd prefer not a modern AU since I like the extra tensions the time period and repression create)

Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi | Spirited Away
Haku | Nigihayami Kohakunushi/Ogino Chihiro
This is my absolute favorite movie of all time and I've always wondered what happens next even as I recognize how perfect it is as a stand-alone story. I like how we begin with Haku looking after Chihiro and trying to help her survive, move to Chihiro looking after Haku and then it's revealed that even before either of them could remember, Haku had been in the role of looking after Chihiro. With that in mind, does something happen in the future where Chihiro has to help Haku again? Maybe he comes to the human world in non-river form and the transition is more difficult than he's prepared for? Or does something bring Chihiro back to the world of the spirits to reunite with him there instead?

Haku | Nigihayami Kohakunushi & Zeniiba
It's somewhat unclear whether Haku stealing Zeniiba's seal was the first encounter they had with each other, or whether they had crossed paths before. If you think they did, what were those circumstances like? Was Yubaba present? Otherwise, how did Haku manage to steal the seal? Was it difficult or did Zeniiba pretend to let her guard down knowing the spell she'd put on it would do most of her work? Why did Zeniiba follow Haku back to Yubaba's bathhouse? Or, after the events of the movie, does Haku ever come to visit Zeniiba and No-Face?
aerielpembroke: lizzie from kuroshitsuji (i'm on a boat!)
Welcome, Yuletide writer and anyone else wandering by! My AO3 name is Aeriel, and I love all these canons, so no matter which we have in common, I'm excited. Generally speaking I'm open to stories of all ratings, gen, f/f, m/m or f/m. I have mostly been using my LJ and DW for letter writing for various exchanges which may or may not be of use to you (see the exchange letter and yuletide tags) as I've not been extremely active this year or really, the last several years for a variety of personal reasons.

Some general DNWs that may or may not be likely to come up in the contexts of these fandoms: body horror, public humiliation, cancer and other long-term serious illness, graphic non-con/rape, characters getting dumped 'for their own good', zombies, cruelty to animals, characters aggressively pursuing someone romantically who genuinely has no interest in them.

Chronicles of Amber- Roger Zelazny
Deirdre, Corwin

I'm very fond of Corwin as narrator and in general, and I really wished we could have gotten more of Deirdre than canon gave us (and I hate only realizing I ship something when one half abruptly dies!) so I would be delighted to receive a story that focuses on them, or on one of them with the other in a supporting role. With all those centuries, even before Corwin's stint as an amnesiac on Earth there's a lot of time canon didn't cover or barely glossed over in which adventures, learning experiences and heartbreaks must have been happening. It's mentioned that just about all of the siblings have studied medicine at one time or another in various places over the centuries, and presumably that's also true of several other fields. Did they ever learn from each other, intentionally or otherwise (because one's knowledge was outdated or specific to one area of Shadow, because one simply had more detailed specific understanding of the relevant topic in a crisis etc) or for that matter, did Deirdre and/or Corwin ever take lessons together or accidentally happen to be in the same class as one of their other siblings? There's also mentions of all the siblings growing up learning about how to manipulate Shadow and walk the Pattern eventually, and I'd also be interested in more about that, even if Corwin and Deirdre weren't interested in Dworkin's teachings in the way Fiona and Brand were.

For relationships, Deirdre/Corwin is canon and as mentioned before I do ship it, so I'd be very pleased to receive anything touching on or exploring that if you'd like to write it. When did they cross the threshold from brother and sister to lovers, if you will? Was there a period when they were happy, before Oberon found out and made his disapproval clear? Were there reactions from their other siblings (particularly Eric and Flora-- why is it Deirdre and Flora used to clash, anyway?) of any sort or were they all busy with their own affairs/not particularly surprised or inclined to make judgements either way? I'm particularly interested in Deirdre's side of things since for obvious reasons we largely got her through Corwin's eyes. I'd also be pleased with pre-romantic relationship dynamics, UST-laden or just childhood mischievousness... with the understanding that since it's these characters, childhood mischievousness might mean 'the time they briefly set their new stepmother on fire' or whatever.

I would rather not receive a story focusing heavily on Deirdre's canonical death-- stories set before then or handwaving it would be my preference at this time.

Darkangel Trilogy- Meredith Ann Pierce

Irrylath, Oriencor

So I love Irrylath dearly, even if he's not exactly the nicest person to be around all the time, particularly if you're either of his cousins. I've requested Irrylath and Oriencor because I'm interested in how Irrylath became a darkangel and/or how he dealt with the reality of what happened to him-- and how badly he was betrayed-- after becoming human again and regaining all his memories. Aeriel doesn't really begin to grasp the full scope of it until the end of A Gathering of Gargoyles, but Irrylath's obviously been struggling with it since the very end of the first book, and I think it's really understandable that he doesn't feel comfortable enough opening up about the sexual abuse until he's had some space to figure it out at least a little bit for himself.

I would rather not receive any graphic sex scenes between Oriencor and young Irrylath, though I certainly don't mind allusions to that aspect of their relationship, because that's such a part of the hold she has on him. I would also rather not receive any Irrylath/Sabr, though Irrylath/Aeriel is fine, if you'd prefer to focus on the post-darkangel period.

Kushiel's Legacy- Jacqueline Carey
Edmee de Rocaille, Isabel L'Envers

Since unfortunately all we know about Edmee we know from the perspective of others, I'd love to get her own perspective on Anafiel, Rolande and/or Isabel. Was she contented with her engagement? Or, what if Edmee survived the riding accident or otherwise ended up actually married to Rolande? Would it have worked out as well as Anafiel imagined, or would frictions have started to develop between the three? And where would that have left Isabel?

As for Isabel (whose perspective I would be equally delighted to receive!) what's driving her? Pure ambition, or petty dislike, or obsessive love, or something else? What would it have been like if Isabel survived and Anafiel had to live working out his promise to protect Ysandre while either still tangling with her mother or eventually coming to a wary understanding?

For ships, I'm pretty open to anything: Anafiel/Rolande, Rolande/Edmee, Rolande/Isabel, hell, Edmee/Isabel if you're got an idea for how it could work, or anything else involving characters of that era.

I would rather not receive any long-term pining or cold/harsh rejection of love confessions.

Peau d'Âne | Donkey Skin - Charles Perrault
Peau d'Âne | Donkey Skin

I vacillated a little between asking for this version or All-Kinds-Of-Fur and I do suggest you look at both, the differences are really interesting! Ultimately I went with Donkey Skin because the relationship between Donkey Skin and the prince seemed a little more... reciprocated? And I personally would like to think that Donkey Skin ultimately ends up in a happy marriage, not just in a marriage that's... better than being forced to marry her father. However I do like her wearing her dresses to balls (and just... getting some use out of the dresses is more interesting to me than princely peeping) so feel free to mix and match elements from both versions if you like.

Ultimately I'm interested in a variety of retellings and/or explorations of character here. Maybe the prince who falls for Donkey Skin is actually a princess? Maybe Donkey Skin runs away to a country so far away that she has to deal with culture shock and/or a new language? Maybe the king comes to Donkey Skin's wedding and she doesn't forgive him? Maybe it takes place under the sea or in the skies? In a steampunk setting or a high fantasy one?

Also, although I certainly don't mind exploring the darker elements of the story, I would prefer an ultimately happy/hopeful ending.
aerielpembroke: (ciel)
Hello, and thank you for even considering writing for me! My AO3 name is Aeriel and I am ridiculously delighted by the prospect of getting something for one of these ships, whose popularity ranges from 'a fond minority' to 'lol nobody cares'. I tried to make my requests the same size but unfortunately I did not quite succeed. Please don't think that means I'm less interested in the ones that I said less about! Sometimes I have less ideas about what these character would be like together, but I'm requesting them because I want to see that explored.

As a general rule, I am okay with everything from G rated hand holding to explicit shenanigans, though I would rather no super underage sex stuff (tentatively ruling that some confused fumbling between 13/14 year olds of the same age is all right and 15-17 year olds can do whatever they like, and naturally if there's a canon age gap I don't mind seeing it in fic), and no non-con.

That said, I doubt most of those are likely to come up in the contexts of the ships I asked for, so here's what I asked for.

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci - Diana Wynne Jones

Cat Chant/Marianne Pinhoe
I love how well they work together immediately ("Will you help me look for Nutcase?" "What does he look like?" Marianne approved of this practical question) and how in their very first meeting they're both impressed visually with each other's magic (Marianne's seeming to "blaze off" her and Cat glowing gold like the Christmas bells). It also delights me to see Cat, notorious for his indirectness, finding himself comfortable directly stating both that he really just wants to explore the attic and that he thinks Marianne's family is stifling her much as Gwendolen stifled him. Canon gave us a bit of how Cat's beginning to grow and change and come into his own, so it would be lovely to see Marianne doing that in her way. I liked how clearly neither of them are really comfortable with the idea of romance in Pinhoe Egg (Cat saying he isn't in love with Irene, Marianne changing her story to be about cats) so I'd imagine they'd be a bit older before anything romantic started happening between them. Prompts! Maybe Marianne goes off to London or Caprona or somewhere exciting for a while and when she and Cat encounter each other again things are different and they can't quite figure out why at first? Or awkward teenage years with magic and magical creatures constantly butting in demanding attention? Maybe things change once Cat becomes Chrestomanci?

Kushiel's Legacy- Jacqueline Carey

Alcuin no Delaunay/Ysandre de la Courcel
In Kushiel's Dart, after Phedre's pardon Ysandre says that she wishes she'd been able to meet Alcuin, and I think they'd have had rather a lot in common! I like that they're both cunning and both willing and able to use their wits to pursue their passions, and naturally if Alcuin had lived he would have worked for Ysandre (and arguably already was). Maybe Ysandre is curious about sex and Alcuin likes her enough to oblige? Or maybe, conscious of the worth of her virginity before marriage, nothing ever happens between them sexually but they develop feelings while working together closely in matters of intrigue and share a charged kiss or two? (Or well, there's probably a lot they could do that still wouldn't ~devirginize Ysandre in the eyes of foreign princes) I should mention I'm completely okay with Ysandre/Drustan still being a thing as long as everyone is aware of what's going on and there isn't say, Ysandre and Alcuin secretly happening on a long-term basis behind Drustan's back. I would prefer this ship in an AU where Alcuin didn't die.

王室教師ハイネ | Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine | The Royal Tutor (Anime)

Leonhard von Granzreich/Heine Wittgenstein
I love Leonhard and his hilarious mixture of pride and flailing innocence, and I love how Heine quickly works out the best strategy for teaching and earning the respect of each of the princes (though for the purposes of this request, especially his strategies with Leonhard) I particularly like how Heine inspires Leonhard to make an effort at things he's not always likely to succeed at, ask questions and think creatively. My preference is for Leonhard to be aged up a bit before any sort of relationship starts.

Leonhard attempting to seduce Heine with advice from Licht and getting frustrated when Licht's advice turns out to be totally inappropriate? Heine slowly noticing Leonhard is having trouble concentrating on lessons because he's putting him on the same sort of pedestal as Bruno? Or on Heine's part, does he begin to become concerned that he might be favoring Leonhard in some way after years go by?

Hello, and thank you for even considering one of my rare ships! My AO3 name is Aeriel and I am ridiculously delighted by the prospect of getting something for one of these ships, whose popularity ranges from 'a fond minority' to 'lol nobody cares'. I tried to make my requests the same size but unfortunately I did not succeed. At all. Please don't think that means I'm less interested in the ones that I said less about! Sometimes I have less ideas about what these character would be like together, but I'm requesting them because I want to see that explored.

That said, I doubt most of those are likely to come up in the contexts of the ships I asked for, so here's what I asked for.

バケモノの子 | Bakemono no Ko | The Boy and the Beast (2016)
Kyuuta | Ren/Ichirohiko
I started shipping these two when Ichirohiko defended Kyuuta from his brother's bullying and was over the moon the moment I realized Ichirohiko was secretly human! And then all the parallelism happened and oh my god, there are so many points of connection for them going forward (and Kyuuta gave Ichirohiko Kaede's bookmark bracelet!) with Ichirohiko having to deal with his anger and balance his nature the same way Kyuuta had to. Kyuuta, in his own way, is comfortable in his own skin, able and willing to forge a new path for himself, while Ichirohiko was repeatedly lied to about his identity and forced himself to try and fit a mold he was never going to grow into. Does Kyuuta ever teach Ichirohiko a few things? Is Ichirohiko ever interested in visiting the human world again under less dramatic circumstances? How might a relationship between the two of them develop, and/or once developed, how would it affect how they see themselves and their place in the world(s)?

Chronicles of Amber- Roger Zelazny
Corwin/Deirdre
When did they cross the threshold from brother and sister to lovers, if you will? Was there a period when they were happy, before Oberon found out and made his disapproval clear? Were there reactions from their other siblings (particularly Eric and Flora-- why is it Deirdre and Flora used to clash, anyway?) of any sort or were they all busy with their own affairs/not particularly surprised or inclined to make judgements either way? I'm particularly interested in Deirdre's side of things since for obvious reasons we largely got her through Corwin's eyes.

Fiona/Deirdre
With this family I could easily see certain members getting involved sexually just as another kind of head game to mess with one another, and that's definitely the way I envision Fiona/Deirdre. We know that Deirdre and Flora used to hate each other, but canon doesn't really give us an idea of how Fiona relates to any of her sisters, so there's plenty of room for interpretation! Maybe Fiona is scientifically curious about the bodies of her siblings, and pursues Deirdre because she knows Deirdre definitely won't fall inconveniently in love with her like Julian? Or maybe Fiona pretends to make an effort to comfort Deirdre after Corwin goes missing, only because she wants something from Deirdre? Or maybe Deirdre's the one who decides to cozy up to Fiona for her own reasons. Or maybe they're simply at each other's throats in a very sexually charged way!

Fire Emblem Fates
Foleo | Forrest/Syalla | Rhajat (Fates)
I love how completely Forrest rolls with Rhajat's... being Rhajat and is only upset when she says she hates him. What kind of clothes does he make her? What kind of wedding dress would he make for their wedding? Does he enjoy being followed around? What would Leo make of Rhajat as his daughter-in-law? What would Hayato make of Forrest as his son-in-law?

Foleo | Forrest/My Unit | Kamui | Corrin (Fates)
I nominated this ship without specifying Corrin's sex because I'm equally interested in Forrest/M!Corrin and Forrest/F!Corrin. Obviously F!Corrin is the one who can canonically marry Forrest, but M!Corrin's supports with Forrest are incredibly flirty and suggestive and I find it easy to imagine them leading somewhere. That said, how on earth do they break the news to Leo? Or, what are some moments that come between F!Corrin's supports, shopping trips and sexually charged measuring sessions? Maybe Forrest healing Corrin of either sex turns into something steamy? Or Corrin gets Forrest a present in exchange for all he's made for her? Forrest lets slip to M!Corrin that although he prefers girls, he's been known to make an occasional exception?

Der Rosenkavalier | The Knight of the Rose - Strauss/von Hoffmannsthal/von Kessler
Maria Therese/Octavian
I recently saw this opera for the first time and really enjoyed it, though I was I think appropriate levels of sad that Octavian leaves Maria Therese for Sophie in the end. But I'm curious about the early/earlier days of Octavian's relationship with Maria Therese. How did Maria Therese and Octavian first meet each other? How did their romance begin? Were there any other close calls with Octavian almost getting caught? (More cross-dressing silliness always welcome, honestly!)

Some very general likes-- friendship, loving families, characters who talk to each other about their problems, politics and intrigue, worldbuilding, characters who are passionate about something, adventure, characters making the best of a bad situation, characters determined to survive, characters making tough decisions.

Overall squicks that may or may not come up in the context of these fandoms-- body horror, zombies, incest for these fandoms, explicit child abuse/molestation backstories for characters who don't have them (for now I'm going with 'fourteen or under' for definition of child) and sensationalized death of female characters. Other DNWs are pining, terminal diseases, pushing partners away "for their own good" and cannibalism.

So, I've been making my way through the last of Jacqueline Carey's three trilogies, having recently finished Naamah's Curse on the train, which was okay but mostly unremarkable, and now deep into Naamah's Blessing, which has taken a sharp left turn into absolutely batshit insane.

So Kuroshitsuji chapter 91 came out! At last! And I practically devoured it- I actually shouted "No!" when I got to "Continues next month". Teasing us with Ciel developments like that- we better actually get the rest of that scene in April and not just cut to something else. I am loving this new relationship between Finn and Ciel, it's almost interesting enough to make up for the fact that Ciel isn't speaking to Sebastian. Sullivan continues to be kind of amazing, and love the new dress, though she looked pretty great before. But ugh, I am already dying for the next chapter.

In the meantime, I've been watching Kyou Kara Maou, (because I am so late to parties that they may not actually be happening anymore) and am almost at the end of season two, aka the part where Wolfram gets possessed and no. one. notices. For the sake of my sanity, I choose to believe Cheri noticed at least, because come on! He suddenly stops yelling and starts staring wistfully out of windows? Very not Wolfram. The Shori plotline was interesting at first but it's starting to get old having Yuuri's brother jump out and yell at Yuuri for wanting to live his life basically. He's so overprotective, I'm surprised if incest fic for the two of them doesn't already exist. Overall I like the show but I like it best when it's really wallowing in absurdity like the beebear episode, so I'll be happy to see the OVAs.

I am also deep into Naamah's Kiss by Jacqueline Carey and I'm still kind of not sure if I like Moirin? I don't actively dislike her, but at the same time I'm not growing fond of her the way I did with Imriel and Phédre. It's weird. I am terrified that Jehanne is going to die in childbirth though, because I know that she dies, but I don't know how, and that seems like an annoyingly convenient way to get rid of her. Raphael is The Worst and I am terribly glad it looks like he's going to be the villain and not the love interest.

And I think that's everything I've been looking at? For now, anyway.
